Quinta do Bom Despacho is a charming estate just a stone's throw from the centre of São Miguel's capital Ponta Delgada, at the very heart of the Atlantic Ocean. Originally built in the 1700s as a large family home, it has recently been re-conceptualized into a unique and versatile space for sustainable holidays and events. We offer 10 uber-comfortable double bedrooms that have been decorated to suit their individual character and our prevailing concepts, and we have a range of spaces and facilities to help you host unforgettable events.

Opened for business since June of 2015, we help fill the current gap in sustainable lodging options, offering the more conscientious visitors to the Azores an alternative to conventional holidaymaking that is at once genuinely grassroots and unquestionably professional. But Quinta do Bom Despacho is not only about the comfort of a night well slept or an awesome event in a certified sustainable destination – here, you'll be spoiled for choice when it comes to activities too. If you choose to spend time with us, you'll get to revel in all kinds of fun, from poolside action to renewable energy testing, fruit-picking and beyond. 

The main building's south façade overlooks the Atlantic and Ponta Delgada with excellent views of the south coast of S. Miguel, spreading along the foot of the fire lake mountain range (lagoa do fogo) to the east. Our privileged location means that you will benefit from a unique mix of access and urban infrastructures and the quiet setting you'd expect from a smallholder farm homing nearly one hectare of ornamental and kitchen gardens. If exploring breath-taking natural landscapes is your thing (of course it is), you're in for a treat, as you'll be perfectly connected with all of the island's main arteries. 

The extensive gardens and outdoors facilities include a natural swimming pond, a sensory garden, an Azorean species border, an organic vegetable growing and orchard area, an amazing greenhouse, state-of-the-art composting facilities, an edible forest, and an historic orange grove. The "chillout hangout" (an elevated area with outdoor lights and power-plugs where you can use bean bags for utter relaxation or hard work) is also worth mentioning.
